Dead Sea Scroll 7Q5
Could it be from the Gospel of Mark?
7Q5 is a tiny Greek papyrus fragment from Qumran Cave 7, containing about 18 letters across five lines. It was first published in 1962 without any definitive identification of its text, and its date was estimated—based on paleographic analysis—to fall between 50 BCE and 50 CE. Its significance lies in the scholarly debate surrounding it: in 1972, the Spanish scholar José O’Callaghan proposed that the papyrus is a fragment of the Gospel of Mark, specifically Mark 6:52–53, whereas modern academic sources reject this proposal.
