4Q Daniel (c)
It is one of the Daniel manuscripts discovered in Qumran Cave 4. The manuscript is extremely fragmented, consisting of only five small pieces, and preserves merely a few words—five incomplete lines—from Daniel’s prayer in chapter 9. It is written in Hebrew script usually dated to the second century or the early first century BC, although recent studies using artificial intelligence and radiocarbon analysis suggest that it may be slightly earlier. Despite its small size, the manuscript is of considerable scholarly importance, as it represents one of the earliest witnesses to the Book of Daniel, confirming that Daniel was already circulating and regarded as authoritative within the Qumran community at a very early stage.
