Conclusion
So, has the Bible been changed, or can I trust it?
One of the reasons you can trust the Bible is that of all the ancient texts ever discovered, the Bible has the most surviving copies of its original documents and the largest number. How many ancient manuscripts exist today? According to experts, 17K of the Old Testament and 25K of the New Testament.
The Bible as we know it today was compiled from these copies of original documents, making it an original and reliable text. The Bible has been accurately transmitted over the centuries.
The accuracy of the Bible is confirmed by archaeology and history.
The historical accuracy of Scripture is also in a class of its own, surpassing any other ancient literature. Over the years, archaeologists and historians have made discoveries that confirm what the Bible says about ancient customs, places, and battles. Because of its accuracy, the Bible is often used as a guide for archaeological excavations. Archaeological confirmations of the biblical narrative have multiplied during the 20th century. Dr. Nelson Glueck, probably the leading modern expert on Israeli archaeology, said:
“No archaeological discovery has ever contradicted a biblical text. Numerous archaeological finds clearly and comprehensively confirm the historical statements of the Bible.”
Faced with all this convincing evidence, what could be my reaction? It is not simply to believe the reliability of the Bible, but rather, its message of eternal salvation. A message that will change our lives, if we accept it:
John (3:16-18) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
